Rotary Segment Encoders Provide the Lowest Rotary Inertia and the Highest Accelerations
For applications requiring high rotary accelerations, MicroE Systems provides light weight rotary segment scales. Many rotary applications require only 30 degrees or less for rotary motion control feedback, and when the highest possible accelerations are required to maximize process throughput, rotary segment scales are the most efficient solution. Weighing as little as one gram, the light weight rotary segment moves with the motion system and the encoder sensor remains stationary.
When used with Mercury encoders, rotary resolutions range from 100 arc-sec to 0.01 arc-sec. The segments include a high-speed, bi-directional optical index built into the grating pattern. Broad alignment tolerances provided by Mercury encoders make it possible to install the encoder in under 30 seconds. Typical applications are motion systems in wire bonders, pick and place equipment and rotary voice coil motors.
