| In
an effort to bring some humor to the world of motion feedback, and boy do
we need it, MicroE Systems has launched an advertising campaign featuring
famous scientists, mathematicians and inventors. These giants were the innovators
of their day, but did they ever think about motion control? Not once...
Here's the first ad in our campaign for Mercury programmable encoder
systems. See if you can guess who this is... Give up? It's none other than the honorable Charles "Bugsy" Babbage. He invented the first computer called the Analytical Engine. It was an amazing mechanical contraption that literally ground out the answers to mathematical problems... Its memory consisted of gears, while the processing unit, or mill, consisted of cams, clutches, cranks and gears. With all that cranking and grinding, it's no wonder he always had his knickers in a twist.
